Although just a few days remain, the exhibition on Marie-Antoinette was just fascinating. There are wonderful artifacts on display (including her letter to sister-in-law Elizabeth just before her execution) and a very good study of how the Queen has been portrayed in literature and film over time. She remains an enigma ....
My rating is for the Conciergerie during our visit - they were in the midst of a renovation/overhaul so there wasn’t much on exhibit during our trip. We spent about 30 minutes viewing Marie Antoinette’s prison, chapel, etc. I think it would have been more interesting if they had more on display but winter seems to be a time where most museums are transitioning their collections and a lot is closed. This was included in our Paris Museum Pass and was easy to visit along with nearby Sainte Chapelle.
The Conciergerie is an amazing place of history - so chilling to walk through and think about the scenes it has witnessed for hundreds of years. The displays are informative and bring to life the history. We went in with our Museum Pass. We were unfortunately pressed for time so were there only about 45 minutes, but easily could have spent another half an hour or more
