On crossing Pont Du Change, we saw the Conciergerie on the right, which was a old palace used by french kings. It became a detention prison during the French Revolution and the most famous prisoner was Marie-Antoinette. When we visited there was an exhibition of on the life, times and fashion icon of Marie-Antoinette. The exhibition was very enjoyable and informative. We also visited a commemorative chapel was erected on the site of her cell.
You will be astounded by this church, the windows and the rooms are just gorgeous. I've brought the most jaded and world weary travelers, including friends who have been to paris many times but never been here....they will all agree-don't hesitate to add this to your adgenda!!
My rating is for the Conciergerie during our visit - they were in the midst of a renovation/overhaul so there wasn’t much on exhibit during our trip. We spent about 30 minutes viewing Marie Antoinette’s prison, chapel, etc. I think it would have been more interesting if they had more on display. This was a combo with Sainte chapelle was easy to visit along with.
