After visiting the Notre-Dame de Paris we wondered over to see the Conciergerie and Sainte Chappelle. Well, the Chappelle was nice but I would have regretted paying to visit the Conciergerie. Fortunately it is one of the many buildings, monuments, galleries and museums included in the Paris museum and monument pass. Back to the review. It's easy to research the history of the Conciergerie so I won't go into that here. I found the empty rooms and halls surprisingly empty. The only points of interest were the cells and that Marie Antoinette was incarcerated here prior to her execution. I would stop by on your way to Sainte Chappelle if you have the time.
This is a nice sight located near river Seine and Saint Chapelle church. It's massive and the architecture is great but we did not enter as we have heard that there is not so much to see.
We obtained a combined ticket with Saint-Chapelle, just a few doors away. The space and history of this building was fascinating. You can spend an hour or two here, which includes a shop. However, in the summer can be busier. They have facilities, but in January there is no sign of cafe option. The displays and information are very clear and give a great insight to the history, along with a short video that plays on a loop.
